MISSISSIPPI -- Mrs. Betty Raye Pope Simpson "Mother", 83, formerly of Rock Hill, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at Canon Hospice Center in Gulfport, Miss.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Harvest Baptist Church, with the Revs. George Schultz and Marshall Fant officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Rock Hill, S.C., and a member of Trinity Bible Church. She had resided in Diamondhead, Miss. for the last two years of her life. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Merritt and her son, Frankie Pittman.
Mrs. Simpson is survived by her husband, Johnnie Simpson; her children, Wayne Pittman, Mike Pope and Tommy Simpson, all of Rock Hill and JJ Hammond of Diamondhead, Miss.; her sisters, Margaret Ann King, Neil Stroud, and Frances Demby, all of Rock Hill; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, S.C., and other times at the home of her son, Tommy Simpson, 575 Rabun Circle, Rock Hill.
