ROCK HILL -- Mr. D. Marshall Thomas, 68, of 1498 Cole Ave. died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at his home.
The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at First Assembly of God, with the Rev. Bernie Lewis officiating. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road.
A native of Kings Mountain, N.C. and raised in Rock Hill, Mr. Thomas was the son of Bertha Meredith Thomas of Rock Hill and the late Haskew James Thomas. He was known as the "Rose Man" that grew roses and took them to nursing homes. He was also known as the "French Fry Man" because he cooked french fries for charitable and church organizations. He retired from Bowaters as shipping clerk. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara T. Grygas and his brother, Henry Haskew Thomas.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Peggy Moss Thomas of the home; his sons, Mark Thomas and wife, Belinda of Catawba, Randy W. Thomas and friend, Laurie Raymond, Chris Thomas and wife, Lisa and Terry G. Thomas, all of Rock Hill; his grandchildren, Courtney Brooke Thomas, Cassey Elizabeth Thomas, C. J. Thomas and Hailey Nicole Thomas; and his stepgrandchildren, Kayla Marie Lane and Kevin Maxwell Lane.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today, Oct. 13, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill and other times at the home.
