NORFOLK -- Minnie Brown Talley, 94, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away in her home on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, surrounded by her family. She is now with her Lord Jesus and all the family and friends who have gone on before her.
Born in York, S.C., she was the 12th child of William Given Brown and Mary Minnie Price. She is survived by a son, Kenneth Talley; two daughters, Betty T. Stevens and husband, Jack and Esther T. Dean and husband, Ted; eight grandchildren, Neil Stevens and wife, Karen Duncan, Cary Stevens, Michael Ferris, Craig Talley and wife, Bonnie, Clare Brown Beasley and husband, Scott, Beth Bodner and husband, Chris, Matt Stevens and wife, Christin and Catherine Sizer and husband, Andy; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband Lawrence C. Talley and her daughter-in-law, Ruth S. Talley.
Minnie was a wonderful person who will be missed by all her family and friends. She was a loving wife to Lawrence and a devoted mother and grandmother. She was generous with time and attention to those in need. Many people received visits from Minnie and gifts of food or flowers. She was a homemaker of the "old school" who baked and cooked from scratch and dispensed hospitality to many around her table. Sewing quilts, baking, gardening, music, and cards were her hobbies. She loved to visit with friends and had a great sense of humor. Minnie loved to write and left 30 diaries of family events which her family now enjoys.
Minnie was a Christian, having professed her faith in Jesus as a child. She was faithful to the Lord all her life, and was an active member of Third Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. The 23rd Psalm was prophetic in Minnie's Life:

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 E. White St., Rock Hill. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill.
