ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Patsy Rawls Dowdle, 75, of 616 Guilford Road passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Westminster Healthcare and Rehab in Rock Hill.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Shelton Sanford officiating. The burial will take place prior to the service at 2:15 p.m. at Laurelwood Cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Dowdle was the daughter of the late Albert Love Rawls and the late Willie Dunlap Rawls. She was the widow of Robert Smith Dowdle to whom she was married for 43 years. She was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and Winthrop College. She was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Berean Sunday School class. Mrs. Dowdle retired from Smith Enterprises, where she was employed as a secretary. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Albert Dunlap Rawls.
Mrs. Dowdle is survived by her son, Robert Smith Dowdle Jr. and wife, Shannon of Gorham, Maine; and her daughter Laurie D. Leonard and husband, Edward of Rock Hill; her brother, Wayne Rawls of Rock Hill; her sister, Clara Roddey of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren, Coleman Dowdle, Caroline Dowdle, Robert Smith Dowdle, III, Patrick Leonard and Margaret Leonard.
The family will receive friends 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill.
