David Clarence Caldwell Jr.

COLUMBIA -- Mr. David Clarence "DC" Caldwell Jr., formerly of Rock Hill, passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services will be noon Friday, Nov. 16, at Brookland Baptist Church, 1066 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia.

A native of Rock Hill, DC was a son of the late Elizabeth (Betty) Wilmore Caldwell and the late David C. Caldwell Sr. He was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School and Barber Scotia College in Concord, N.C. He served four years with the U.S. Air Force.

After 33 years of service, he retired from the Social Security Administration, where he held various positions within the agency.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Pinkie D. Caldwell of Columbia; two sons, David C. Caldwell III of Knoxville, Tenn., and Stephen M. Caldwell of the U.S. Army serving in Afghanistan; three sisters, Ms. Veronica Caldwell of Charlotte, N.C., Ms Wilhelmenia Geter of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Ms. Barbara Caldwell of Fairburn, Ga.; four brothers, Mr. William Caldwell of Richfield, Minn., Mr. John Caldwell, Mr. Richard Caldwell and Mr. Larry Caldwell, all of Rock Hill; five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Sharon Caldwell of Rock Hill, Ms. Margie Jennings of Columbia, S.C., Ms. Stella Duggan of Sparta, Ga., Mrs. Mattie Stembridge of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Patricia Jenkins of Austin, Texas; four brothers-in-law, Rev. Samuel Duggan of Sparta, Ga., Rev Jimmy Duggan of Columbia, S.C., Hubert Stembridge of Atlanta, Ga., and Donald Jenkins of Austin, Texas; three aunts, Mrs. Carrie B. Lowry of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Annie Barber of York, S.C., and Mrs. Florence Pearl of Rock Hill, S.C.; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service.
