Joel Grigsby

FORT MILL -- On Nov. 17, 2007, Joel heard his name called. Our Lord said, "Child, come home, you work here is thru".

Frankie "Joel" Grigsby of 406 Unity Street, was born Feb. 20, 1956, the son of Frankie and Lorine Jones Grigsby of West Columbia, S.C. He was brother to Jimmy Grigsby and his wife Charlene; brother to Paula Goodman; uncle to Terry W. Goodman, Traci Goodman, Lori Grigsby and Jenna Grigsby; cherished cousin to Deborah Rubens and close companion to Anthony "Tony" Bovay. Joel was also loved by many other cherished family members and friends.

Joel's love of life and the Lord also included music from the Airport High School Marching band to playing piano and organ at church and leading the choir in making a joyful noise as minister of music in area churches.

He was employed as human resource manager with Saturn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Charlotte, N.C. where he will be missed by residents and staff alike. He was also currently serving as minister of music at NewKirk Baptist Church in Rock Hill, S.C.

A "Celebration of Life" service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at NewKirk Baptist Church, 175 Museum Road in Rock Hill. A second "Celebration" service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at Kittiwake Baptist Church, 420 Kittiwake Dr., West Columbia (803-951-7334), with visitation to follow.

The family is requesting any memorials be made to either NewKirk Baptist Church building fund or to Saturn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 1930 W. Sugar Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC 28262, for resident celebrations.
