ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Delcener Knox Cole, 79, of 378 Lige St., died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007. She was born April 29, 1928, in York County, to the late Eugene Knox and Lottie Watson Knox. She attended China Grove School. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and served as a deaconess, missionary, Sunday School teacher and church clerk. She retired from Winthrop University in 1995 as a housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Cole; son, Johnny Cole; brothers, James Watson, Eugene Knox Jr., and Samuel Knox.
She leaves to cherish her memories, son, Marion Jr. (Zarah) of Croftin, Md.; daughter, Auderey (Edward) Tolbert of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Annie Myrtle Marshall and Bernice Miller, both of Rock Hill; sister-in-law, Pauline Patton of Capital Heights, Md.; former daughter-in-law, Vernice Gist of Suitland, Md.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Parker Funeral Home. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronnie Baxter. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
