CHESTER -- Mr. Clarence Robert "Bill" Brantley, 94, formerly of Parkway, went home to be with his Lord on Jan. 18, 2008.
The funeral will be held 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald Funderburk and the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Born in Lando, Mr. Brantley was a son of the late Charlie Walter Brantley and Minnie Robinson Brantley. He was retired from Springs Industries and was an active member of Saluda Street Church of God for over sixty years where he formerly served as church clerk, Sunday school teacher, and a member of the visitation team. He lived by the scripture, Romans 8:18 which states that "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." The comment most often heard of this man was, "He never complained!"
He attended schools of Chester County and was a U.S. Navy W.W. II Veteran. He and three brothers served their country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Surviving are his two sons, Doug Brantley (Carolyn) of Chester and Bob Brantley (Barbara) of Fort Mill; ten grandchildren, Steve, Roger, Brad and Jon Brantley, Susan Hiler, Karen Bailey, Valerie Blair, William "Rip" Dennis, Robert Dennis and Paula Lucas; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. Polly McCorkle and Mrs. Robert (Ann) Doster both of Chester. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma "Tiney" Wilson Brantley; one daughter, Billie Pauline Brantley Dennis; four brothers, Walter, Earl, Fred M., Charles Paul "Pete"; one sister, Faye Brantley Gibson; and one grandchild, Robert Todd Brantley.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie Street, Chester.
