SUFFOLK, Va. -- Mrs. Jessie Earline Thompson Lamb, of 814 Seminole Drive, passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, in Norfolk, Va. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Greater Sweet Beulah Holiness Church, with the Rev. Madison G. Copeland officiating. Burial will be at Military Cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, she was the daughter of Callie H. Thompson of Rock Hill and the late Fred L. Thompson. She attended the York County schools and was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School and Friendship Junior College. She joined Mount Prospect Baptist Church at an early age. She served in the United States Navy.
Surviving in addition to her mother is her husband, John O. Lamb of the home; two daughters, Ruby Jennell L. Purifoy (Willie) of Midlothian, Va., and Johnetta Lamb of the home; two granddaughters; two brothers, Jerome C. Thompson of Rock Hill and J. Warren Thompson (Sandra) of Mint Hill, N.C.; four sisters, Freddie T. Smith (King), and Lola T. Canty (Waddell), both of Charlotte, N.C., and Barbara T. Richmond and Patricia T. Ware (Willie), both of Rock Hill; one uncle, Robert Lee of Rock Hill; and one aunt, Greta Dunn of Florida.
