Phillip Lefler Jr.

ROCK HILL -- Mr. Phillip Homer "Bus" Lefler Jr., 87, of Rock Hill, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Mr. Lelfer was born on Sept. 24, 1920 in Rowan County, North Carolina, the son of the late Phillip Homer Lefler Sr. and Annie Crossett Lefler. He was a graduate of Granite Quarry High School, former member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church, Granite Quarry. A veteran of World War II serving in the US Army, member of the Granite Quarry American Legion , first Fire Chief of Granite Quarry V.F.D., member of the Ebenezer Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill and had retired from Stone Container Corporation as production manager.

Survivors include his wife, Dottie Davis Lefler whom he married in June of 1946; sons, Phillip W. Lefler and wife, Pat of Harrisburg, N.C., and William "Bill" Lefler Sr. and wife, Gail of Taylorsville, N.C.; grandchildren, Rebecca and Jesse Rine, Jennifer Lefler, Dr. William S. Lefler Jr., MD and wife, Lindsay.

Visitation will be 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, N.C. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Powles Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Boyce Wilson, and the Rev. Charles Mitchell. Burial will follow at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Rowan County Military Honor Guard, and the North Carolina Military Funeral Guard.
