Jerry Lloyd Player

LADSON, S.C . -- Entered into eternal rest on the morning of Feb. 1, 2008, Jerry Lloyd Player, husband of Mary Linda Wiley Player. Mr. Player was a resident of Ladson.

The relatives and friends of Mr. & Mrs. Jerry L. Player are invited to attend Mr. Player's funeral service at Freedom Original Freewill Baptist Church, Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. Interment at Whispering Pines Cemetery, Moncks Corner. Friends may call at J. Henry Stuhr., Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, on Monday between 6 and 8 p.m.

Mr. Player was born on Sept. 21, 1931, in Rock Hill, the son of the late Jessie Eugene Player and Bessie Elizabeth Locklair Player. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean war, a member of the VFW Post 3142 and a disabled American veteran. He was a retired cabinet maker with Southern Lumber & Millwork.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary Linda Player of Ladson; four sons, Ricky and wife, Janice Richardson of Chesapeake, Va., Randy and wife, Annette Richardson of Gates, N.C., Timothy Richardson of Greensboro, N.C. and Jerry Wayne Player and wife, Dorinda of Walterboro; two daughters, Peggy Reanee Player of Ladson and Margaret and husband, Christopher Devin Gordon of North Charleston; one brother, Harold Player and wife, Brenda of Rock Hill; sister-in-law, Francis Player of Rock Hill; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Charles Player; and his sister, Dorothy Morris, all of Rock Hill.
