ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Flora Helen Deane Rice, 86, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Park Pointe Village, surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, in the community room at Park Pointe Village, 3025 Chesbrough Blvd, Rock Hill, with the Rev. Paul Lattimer officiating. Burial will be private.
A native of Durand, Mich., Mrs. Rice was a daughter of the late Carl S. Deane and the late Nellie M. Brooks. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Louis C. Brooks and her brother, Richard Deane.
Mrs. Rice was a registered nurse who, in retirement, continued to serve others through volunteer work at the Red Cross and Piedmont Medical Center and through her loving care for neighbors and friends, especially at times of illness. She was an avid bridge player who also enjoyed sewing and crafts. Helen was a member of Tirzah Presbyterian Church and very active in the Park Pointe Village Chapel services.

Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, Ivan G. Rice; her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Patricia Rice of Belmont, N.C.; her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Wayne Bowers of York; four grandchildren, Victoria Loock, Jon Bowers, Dean Rice and Kristen Brennan; her stepbrother, Burlee Brooks; and seven great-grandchildren, Joshua and Tyler Bowers, Logan and Madison Brennan, Sean and Alexandra Rice and Matthew Loock.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
