ABBEVILLE -- Doris Ellis Crowther, 86, of Abbeville, wife of the late Charles Preston Crowther, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at her residence. She was born in Lowndesville, S.C., to the late Walter and Carrie Ferguson Ellis. Mrs. Crowther was a graduate of Antreville High School. She retired from Calvin Klein Clothing Company and was a member of Bells United Methodist Church. For many years she has attended the First Baptist Church in Abbeville.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Ellis; two sisters, Grace Davis and Frances Martin; and a son-in-law, Jimmy W. Curlings.
She is survived by her son, Charles W. Crowther and his wife, Dorothy of Abbeville; two daughters, Ann Curlings of Louisville, N.C., and Nancy Bronson and her husband, Ralph of Rock Hill, S.C.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
