RICHMOND, Va. -- Wallace Rea Winborne II passed away at age 72, on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, in Richmond, after an extended illness.
He was born in Conway, S.C. on January 18, 1936, and spent his youth in Conway and York, S.C. He attended Clemson University before moving to Los Angeles, Calif. to study aeronautical engineering. He was married in 1961 to Marcia Sebby and they made their home for 10 years in El Segundo and Saugus, Calif. They had one son, Scott, who was born in 1968. Wallace spent several years back in York, S.C., and for the past 25 years resided in Richmond. Though he struggled with illnesses over the years, throughout his life his friends knew him as a kind and gentle, caring, honest, intelligent and creative person who was also a very talented artist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Rea Winborne Sr.; his mother, Jamie (Pic) Norton Winborne Hart; and his step-father John R. Hart II. He is survived by his son, Scott E. Winborne; and two grandchildren, Lance and Kate Winborne, all of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and his half-brother, John R. Hart III of Rock Hill.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lakeside Cemetery.
