Rebecca Alber

ROCK HILL -- Rebecca Burgin Alber, of 1100-03 Ebinport Road, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center.

She was born in Lincolnton, N.C., a daughter of the late Robert Harris and Rachel Hovis Burgin. Mrs. Alber moved to Charlotte in 1938 and worked for L & H Heating and Air Conditioning, was a former member of Ebenezer ARP Church in Charlotte, N.C., a member of the Dorcas Circle and Tirzahites Senior Citizens Group where she was treasurer. She was a current member of Tirzah ARP Church. She was the widow of the late Rev. Ray Alber. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by four sisters, Addie Burgin Gentry, Mary Burgin Jones, Martha Burgin Braswell and Cecelia Burgin Carpenter; and two brothers, Sam and George Burgin.

Mrs. Alber is survived her brother, Robert "Jim" Burgin and his wife, Anne of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Sally Burgin Austin and husband, Bill of Charlotte, N.C. and Judy Burgin Morris and husband, Johnny of Signal Mountain, Tenn.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Alber will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Tirzah ARP Church with the Rev. Andy Putnam officiating. A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte, N.C. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
