Anne M. Dodgen

YORK -- Mrs. Dodgen, 70, passed away Friday, March 7, 2008, in Tampa, Fla. after battling the effects of a stroke and complications.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Wade D. Dodgen; and her parents, Jeptha Gwinn McKnight and Martha Gettys McKnight.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patti Dodgen and Dale Emerson; and her grandson, Mark Bambach, of Tampa, Fla. She is also survived by her sister, Jeanette M. Chambers of York; and her step-grandson and grandaughter-in-law, Christopher and Kellie Emerson of Charlotte, N.C.

She was visiting her family in Tampa in November where she attended her grandson's homecoming football game and accompanied him and his parents on the field for his introduction as a senior, and was honored by wearing his jersey during the ceremony. That same weekend she suffered the stroke. Her family will always remember the great excitement, happiness and joy she experienced in the week before her illness.

She was a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and cousin to an extended family who will carry memories of her love and devotion as her legacy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at Bratton Funeral Home in York on Wednesday, March 12, with graveside services immediately following at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Lifepath Hospice of Tampa, Fla., York County Hospice or to York Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
