CHESTER -- Mr. Hugh Grey Muldrow, 85, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
A graveside service will be 2 today at Chester Memorial Gardens.
Born in Mayesville, Mr. Muldrow was the son of the late Robert and Mary Scott Witherspoon Muldrow.
He was a graduate of Mayesville High School and Clemson College. He retired from Chester County government as the Delinquent Tax Collector. He was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theater, and was a POW in Poland. He was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church, the American Legion and the American Association of POWs. Mr. Muldrow was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing, and was a founding member of the Big Buck Club. He also loved time with family and friends and exchanging stories.

Mr. Muldrow was first married to the late Louisa White Muldrow, who died in 1981. In 1987, he married Jean Wilkes Fennell Muldrow, who also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his daughter, Carlisle M. Putnam and her husband, Martin, of Rock Hill; three stepsons, Al Fennell of Greenville, Clark Fennell and his wife, Kim, of Rock Hill, and Peter Fennell and his wife, Gina, of Mount Pleasant; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
