RICHBURG -- Mrs. Gertrude Hills McFadden, 60, of 215 S. Main St., Richburg, S.C., passed away Friday, march 21, 2008, at her home.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Mount Moriah AME Zion Church in Richburg, with the Rev. Dennis McCleave officiating and the Rev. William Abell and Minister Janie Mae Young assisting. Burial will follow at Loving Charity Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Chester County, July 19, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Willie B. Hills and Remattie Gaston Hills. She was a member of Mount Moorish AME Zion Church, where she was a deaconess and member of the gospel choir, missionary ministry, kitchen committee and usher board. She was a 1965 graduate of Finley High School and attended York Technical College and was a Certified Nurses Assistant at Spring Arbor Assisted Living and Retirement Facility in Rock Hill, S.C.
Survivors are two daughters, Debra (John) Strong of Richburg, S.C., and Pamela (Antonio) Barber, both of Rock Hill; four brothers, Charles Edward (Shirley) Hills of Charlotte, N.C., Willie Arthur (Wilhelmena) Hills of Harrisburg, Pa., and Douglas Lee (Mary) Hills and Floyd Hills, both of Richburg; one sister, Loretha Hills Palmer of Harrisburg, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester, S.C. The family will receive friends at the home.
