CORTLAND, Ohio -- Ann M. Jewell, beloved mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2008. She was 85.
Mrs. Jewell was born in Westernport, Md. on March 24, 1922, a daughter of George and Anna (Peskunas) Yurgaitis. A graduate from Braceville High School, Ann went on to marry Lloyd M. Jewell on June 5, 1940. Together they operated a farm in Fowler for 34 years before retiring in 1979. She was a member of Fowler Community Church. In her spare time she enjoyed playing golf, traveling, walking, knitting, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, David (Lori) Jewell of Rock Hill, S.C.; two daughters, Patty (Bill) Odell of Cortland, Ohio and Nancy (Larry) Beavers of Rock Hill, S.C.; son-in-law, Ken Miller of Cortland; daughter-in-law, Pat Jewell of Geneva; 11 grandchildren, Kenneth, Dennis, Suzanne, Robert, Laura, Benjamin, Rebecca, Sarah, Andrew, Hannah and Evan; six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Madisen, Alexandra, Abigail, Emily and Makayla; and one sister, Ruth Huth of Algonquin, Ill.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband on May 16, 1980; two sons, Dennis and Ronald; a daughter, Linda Miller; three brothers, Charles, Stanley and Peter Yurgaitis; and one sister, Adella Simko.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Fowler Community Church, with the Rev. Joel Dickson, Pastor. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Braceville Township Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions can be made to the church memorial fund.
