ROCK HILL -- Mr. Charles Harold Murdaugh Sr., 74, of 4647 Brewington Parkway, Rock Hill, S.C., died March 22, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Ashton, S.C., to the late Berry Murdaugh and Manie Harley. He was a graduate of Ruffin High School and Southern Illinois University and earned a graduate degree at Webster University. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and was a lay leader, president of the United Methodist Men, trustee, lay speaker at Grace United Methodist in Tacoma, Wash., and on board of Wesley Foundation. He served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by wife, Doris Murdaugh of the home; son, Charles H. Murdaugh Jr. of Rock Hill; daughter, Robin Murdaugh Palmer of Burlington Township, N.J.; brother, Rev. Lorenzo Murdaugh of New Castle, Del.; two grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation and Masonic rites will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at New Hope United Methodist Church. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, with the Rev. William Dargan officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
