ST. MATTHEWS, S.C. -- Mrs. Frances Garnell Gardner, 79, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at The Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg.
Funeral services will be private.
Born in Laurens County, S.C., Mrs. Gardner was the daughter of the late James and Kate Burns Wells. She attended the Church of God. She enjoyed playing gospel songs on the piano and organ, as well fishing, bingo and spending time in the garden.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Lynn Tucker of Iva, S.C.; two sons, Alfred T. Brooks Sr. of Sanford, N.C. and James W. Brooks of St. Matthews; three brothers, Gurnie Wells of Newberry, S.C., Dan Wells of JoAnna, S.C., and Harry Wells of Durham, N.C.; three sisters, Evelyn McGee and Idell Moore, both of Rock Hill and Louise Taylor of Newberry.
