CHESTER -- Mr. James Andrew Austin Sr., 68, of 777 Braircliff Circle went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at his residence.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Westside Baptist Church in Chester, with the Rev. Tony Greene and the Rev. David Sealy officiating. Burial will be at Old Purity Cemetery in Chester.
A native of Chester County, S.C., Mr. Austin was a son of the late Durham Griggs and Beulah Wilson Austin. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was an active member of Victory Baptist Church in Rock Hill, S.C. He was a graduate of Chester High School and Winthrop University and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Earline Thompson Austin; one daughter, Katherine A. Moore and her husband, Donald, of Rock Hill, S.C.; two sons, Brian K. Austin and his wife, Sherri, of Chester and James A. "Jimmy" Jr. of Greenville, S.C.; six grandchildren, Ciera Poag, Ramon Poag Jr. and Brittany Poag of Chester, Jason Cook, Kristofer Cook and Amber Stroud, all of Rock Hill, S.C., and Zoie Benjamin of Greenville, S.C.; one brother, Maurice "Corky" Austin of Chester, S.C.; two sisters, Dorothy Dickey of Chester and Vivian Peak of Lexington, S.C.; and two special friends, Toni Alexander and Dominique Canty.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester.
