SHELBY, N.C. -- Mr. Maxie "Mac" Webber, 58, of 1320 New House Road, Shelby, N.C., departed this life on Monday, March 31, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. A native of Cleveland County, N.C., he was born April 23, 1949, to the late Raymond Ivey and Frances Williamson Webber.
Maxie joined Washington Baptist Church in Shelby, N.C., at an early age. He graduated from Columbia College in Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He served 26 years in the U.S. Navy and Army. After retiring from the military, he worked as a manager and counselor at juvenile facilities until his failing health.
Maxie was united in marriage on May 10, 1980, to Lois Carolyn Huddleston and to this union was born two sons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Wayne R. Howell Jr. "Poga" and his foster father, Harrison Anthony Sr.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife, Carolyn H. Webber; two sons, Aaron Jamall Webber of Jacksonville, Fla., and Myron Cattrell Webber of the home; one stepdaughter, LaMia H. Lyons (Jonathon) of Kings Mountain, N.C.; three brothers, Iva B. Webber of Kings Mountain, David D. Webber of York, S.C., and William D. Webber of Gastonia, N.C.; one sister, Ellen W. Brooks (Alexander) of Shelby, N.C.; foster mother, Eula B. Anthony of York; two foster brothers, James D. Anthony (Alberta) and Harrison Anthony Jr., both of York; one foster sister, Gwendolyn Kennedy of Raleigh, N.C.; eight stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Washington Missionary Baptist Church in Shelby, with Frances Webber officiating. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2 p.m. on Saturday. Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
