ROCK HILL -- Mr. James Oliver "Daddy Jim" Wright, 95, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.

The funeral service will be 3 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with Revs. Jerry Devinney, Rick Sturgis and Ron Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Wright was a son of the late Ira Walter Wright and Ella Jane Sistar Wright and the widower of Hattie Mae Sturgis Wright.

He was a member of Catawba Baptist Church where he was a former song leader, church clerk and Sunday school director. He sung tenor in a quartet for 25 years.

He retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing with 29 1/2 years of service, worked for The Herald for 15 years delivering papers to carriers, and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII where he served in Philippines and Japan.

Mr. Wright is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby and Roger Collins and Mary Ann and John Copeland, all of Rock Hill; his sister, Mable N. Wright of Rock Hill; one grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 2:45 p.m., at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, following the service at the graveside, and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Catawba Baptist Church Mission Fund, 2639 Catawba Church Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
