QUINBY -- Billy Hoke, 60, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, after a brief illness.
Mr. Hoke was born in Rock Hill, S.C., a son of Peggy Mobley Benfield and the late W.R. Hoke Sr. He was a graduate of Rock Hill High School.
Billy was owner and President of Pee Dee Drywall Supply Inc. in Quinby. Additionally, he served for many years on the Quinby town council and was a member of the Florence chapter of the Elk Lodge. Billy greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and always welcomed visitors to his farm in Florence County.
He is survived by his son, Derek Hoke of Nashville, Tenn.; his mother, Peggy Mobley Benfield of Florence; and stepmother, Jackie Hoke of Quinby. He is also survived by sisters, Barbara Parks of Florence, Leslie Green (Alan) of Cary, N.C., Jane Buell (Jeff) of Lexington, S.C.; a brother, Michael Benfield (Teresa) of Mooresville, N.C.; as well as several nieces, a nephew and a special friend, Donna Thompson of Florence.
He was preceded in death by his father, W. R. Hoke Sr.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. June 8, 2008, in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 7, 2008, at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Jackie Hoke, 200 Quinby Lane, Quinby.
