Bobby O'Brien Howard

EDGEMOOR -- Bobby O'Brien Howard, 72, of 2600 Starnes Road, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008, at his residence.

A native of Burtie County, Mr. Howard was born June 25, 1935, a son of the late Garvie and Evelyn Dilday Howard. He was a former Lions Club member where he was past-president, past district governor and secretary/treasurer. Mr. Howard was a retired conductor from Norfolk/Southern Railroad after 38 and a half years, was a member of Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church where he was a deacon, member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and the Neely's Creekers and a veteran of the Marine Corps Reserve and the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Venice J. Howard, and a brother, Dalton Howard.

Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Fudge Jordan; two daughters, Wendy Black and husband, Kevin, and Beverly Parrish and husband, Jeff, all of Rock Hill; a stepson, Brad Jordan and wife, Renea, of Edgemoor; a stepdaughter, Jackie Davis and husband, Russell, of Donalds, S.C.; two sisters, Barbara Stutts of Charlotte and Betty Evans of Mint Hill; three grandchildren, Mishelle Gossett and Geoffrey and Brandon Parrish; five stepgrandchildren, Cara and Hannah Davis, SaraBeth, Jack and Grace Jordan.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Howard will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church with the Revs. Bill Fleming and Danny Hieber officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
