ROCK HILL -- Mr. Joseph Hoyt Tucker passed away peacefully Monday, June 16, 2008, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House after a brief illness.
He was born to the late James Robert (JR) Tucker and the late Fannie Tucker on November 15, 1919, in Hartwell, Ga. He was the oldest child of nine sons and one daughter. He and his family moved to Rock Hill in 1949 to own a family farm in Lesslie, S.C. He worked beside his father raising produce, which was sold to Rock Hill grocery stores. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie, Roy and Aremus Tucker.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his brothers, Hayward, Luke, Charles and Bobby Tucker, all of Rock Hill and Gerald Tucker of Spartanburg, S.C.; his sister, Sarah Bradley of Rock Hill; and a number of nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road with the Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. The family will receive friends at each of their homes.
