YORK -- Mrs. Lois Smith Cook, 74, of 907 East Liberty St., Apt 3C, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 East White St., Rock Hill, with the Rev. John Shehan officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.
A native of Monroe, N.C., Mrs. Cook was a daughter of the late Freddy Bradley Smith and the late Georgia May Hill Smith. She was employed with The Herald for 14 years. She was of the Baptist faith. She was the widow of James Edward Cook Sr. and was preceded in death by her son, James Edward Cook Jr. and her twin brother, Louis Smith.
Surviving are her son, Michael Freddy Cook of York; three daughters, Joyce Cook Shirley and Carol Cook Burns, both of York and Kathy Krzemien of Rock Hill; three brothers, Hayward Jackson Smith of Lake Jackson, Texas, Howard Lee Smith of Belmont, N.C., and Franklin D. Smith of St. Mary's, Ga.; four sisters, Brenda Anderson, Mary Smith and Terry Silvers, all of Rock Hill and Barbara Ann Scurry of Chester; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 1 to 2:15 p.m. today, June 18, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel prior to the service.
