CLOVER -- Hillard Eugene "Chief" Hartman, 85, of 119 Oak Street, died June 22, 2008.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Clover A.R.P Church, with the Rev. Evan English officiating. Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery, with Military Honors. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover and other times at the home of his daughter at 1528 Calder Lane in Clover.
Mr. Hartman was born June 3, 1923, in Gaston County, N.C. to the late Eddie Osborne Hartman and Alice Pearl Lingerfelt Hartman. Mr. Hartman was a Navy veteran of WWII, past District Commander of the South Carolina VFW and was Commander of the Clover VFW for over 30 years. He was retired from American Thread Co. and Pharr Yarns in Clover. Mr. Hartman was a member the Clover A.R.P Church. He was the widower of Martha Jane Stewart Hartman and was preceded in death by a son, Eddie G. Hartman; brother, Robert David Hartman; and sister, Pansy H. Self.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Chariker of Clover; son and daughter in law, Mike and Gail Hartman of Clover; sister, Betty Smith of Cherryville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Beau Joye, Hope Stinnett and Shane Hartman; and five great-grandchildren.
