ROCK HILL -- Jean Spanbauer Duncan, 88, of 2538 Westminster Drive, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A native of Osh Kosh, Wis., Mrs. Duncan was born Dec. 30, 1919, a daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Schertz.She was a recruiter with the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and member of First Baptist Church of Rock Hill, where she was a Pink Lady and Greater Outreach leader. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Col. Oliver Lynwood Duncan and a son, Robert Lindsey Duncan.
Surviving her are two sons, Oliver L. Duncan Jr., and his wife, Alice C. Duncan, of Rock Hill and Elton Lee Duncan of Charlotte; a daughter, Linda J. Kirkland and her fiancé, Charles H. Herron, of Charleston, S.C.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma S. Milovancevic and her husband, John of Racine, Wis.; also her caregiver and friend for 10 years, James Adams.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Duncan will be 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Larry Sizemore officiating. Interment will follow in Laurelwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chalres Herron, Brandon and Grant Kirkland, George Duncan, Brain Lewis and Eric McCraven; honorary pallbearers will be Harry Goforth and Caldwell Barron.
