YORK -- Mr. James E. Thrift, 67, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Eastview Baptist Church with the Revs. Rick Martin and Keith Cobb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Shelby, N.C., Mr. Thrift was a son of the late Howard Thrift and the late Gladys Cobb Thrift. He was an avid dirt track race car driver and a farmer who loved horses. He traveled often for trail rides and he belonged to TPA. He was the widower of Gloria Thrift and was also preceded in death by his sister, Jean McDaniel.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel Adams-Thrift; his son, James Dean Thrift and his wife, Tammy, of York; two daughters, Tammy Allen and her husband, Ronnie, of Rock Hill and Cindy Jackson and her husband, Freddie, of York; two stepsons, Wendell Adams Jr. of Mississippi and Jason Adams of Rock Hill; his stepdaughter, Angela Adams of Columbia; his brother, Wayne Thrift of York; two sisters, Dorothy Lockridge of Sharon and Debbie Rivers of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren, Jamie Styles, Jeremy and Jacob Jackson, Christie Allen, Whitney Thrift, Wes Williams, and Jared and Jordan Adams; and six great-grandchildren, Daniel and Brandon Styles, Tyler and Haley Jackson, Alyssa Allen and Porter Williams.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill.
