GREAT FALLS -- Mr. James Marion Baker, 85, of 34 Canal St., died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church in Great Falls, with the Rev. Ron Jackson and the Rev. Curtis Cameron officiating. Interment with Masonic rites will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Born Dec. 9, 1922, he was a son of the late George P. and Lillian Branham Baker. He attended the schools of Great Falls and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Baker was a 43 year employee of J.P. Stevens Co. and retired as weave room supervisor. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher. A member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple and Chaplain of Great Falls Masonic Lodge 277, Marion Baker also served on the Greenlawn Cemetery Committee.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Nonie Gladden Baker; one daughter, Maxine Baker of the home; two grandchildren, Kim McMillin and husband, Joey, of Inman, S.C., and Bryan Jackson of Gaffney, S.C.; two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Samantha McMillin; two brothers, Henry Baker and Rudolph Baker of Great Falls; two sisters, Dorothy Smith of Mauldin, S.C., and Helen Roberts of Great Falls. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane B. Jackson and a brother, Oscar Baker.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls.
