ROCK HILL -- Ms. Bertha Lee Ward, 74, of 330 Piedmont St., passed away Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.S. Sanders Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens (Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd.).
Born on March 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Plummie Nance. She attended the Chester County Schools. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Ward and her four siblings, Maggie Mayfield, Mozell Kendrick, Thomas Nance and Ronell Nance.

Ms. Ward is survived by Sadie Gaston (Willie), Annie Page (Dewitt), Diane Wells (Stanley), Denise Ward, Mary Hope (Tim), Clarence Ward (Darlene) and Michael Ward, all of Rock Hill; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Andrew Nance of Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Geanette LeGendre of Deerpark, N.Y.; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Ward; a host of nieces and nephews; and a dear companion, Riley Murray of Rock Hill.
Ms. Ward may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home and from noon until time of the service Saturday at the church. The family will receive friends at 612 Lige St.
