CHESTER -- Mrs. Virginia Patsy Marze Gordon, 83, of Chester, S.C., formerly of Belmont, N.C., died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born on July 1, 1925, in Union County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Rob and Mary Phoebe Marze. Mrs. Gordon was primarily a homemaker but also enjoyed several years working in the cafeteria at South Point High School in Belmont. She was a faithful servant of her Lord being a longtime member of Pilgrim Baptist Church in Gastonia, N.C. She was a loving wife, mother and devoted grandmother that took pleasure in feeding friends and family.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, in the Bumgardner Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont, with the Revs. Thomas Holbrook and Mickey Barnes officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. Saturday at Plaza Road Baptist Church Cemetery in Charlotte.
Survivors of Mrs. Gordon include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Pattie Gordon of Cocoa, Fla., John and Sue Gordon of Belmont and Paul and Debbie Gordon of Concord; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Mickey Barnes of Chester, S.C., and Linda and Alan Eagle of Rock Hill, S.C.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gordon was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John William Gordon and by seven brothers and one sister.
