CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mrs. Jane Shillinglaw Boykin, 62, passed away Monday, September 1, 2008, at Presbyterian Hospital.
Mrs. Boykin was born April 7, 1946, in Rock Hill, S.C., to the late Ed and Rebecca D. Shillinglaw. She was a 1964 graduate of Rock Hill High School and graduated from Winthrop College with a teaching degree in elementary education in 1967.
A memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel with Dr. Tony Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Laurelwood Cemetery at 2 p.m., prior to the service.
Jane was a loving and caring wife, mother and Grammy who enjoyed her family and friends. Her family wishes to express a special thanks to friends Dianne Gaddis, Ann Barton and the staff at Harris Hospice Unit.
Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Joseph William Boykin Sr.; her son, Joseph William Boykin Jr. and fiancee, Penny Phifer; her daughter, Beth Boykin Alexander and husband, Chad; her grandchildren, Carter Joseph Alexander, Ben Harton, Tyler Alexander and Taylor Phifer, all of Charlotte; her brother-in-law, John K. Boykin and wife, Jacki, of Dalton, Ga.; and her sister-in-law, Phoebe B. Johnson and husband, Gene, of Jonesville, S.C.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill (803-326-2051).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital, 200 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204.
