BLYTHEWOOD -- Robert Horace Rowe Sr., 50, of Blythewood, died Oct. 6, 2008.
His funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at 11 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Cathy Jamieson-Ogg and the Rev. Dr. Dennis Letts. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbia, with rites rendered by the SCHP Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Capt. Opie Reid, SCHP, Sgt. Harold Deese, SCHP (Ret.), Michael Letts, Capt. Kenny Lancaster, SCHP (Ret.), Montie Agee, Wendell Walker and Phillip Smarr. Active and Retired Troopers are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends today from 5 until 7 p.m. at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, Columbia. Robbie was born Nov. 5, 1957 in Rock Hill, S.C. He began his career in law enforcement with the North Augusta Dept. of Public Safety at the age of 18. In 1979, he joined the S.C. Highway Patrol and rose through the ranks. When Robbie retired in 1998 he held the rank of 1st Sgt. in charge of Richland County. He volunteered with the Richland County Coroner's Office. Robbie was also the founder of Rowe Security Systems. A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, he had recently attended Hope Baptist Church.
Robbie was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and all of his family. He was a caring person and a friend to many. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Agee Rowe; sons, S/TRP Robbie H. Rowe Jr., SCHP and TCO Chris Rowe, SCHP, all of Blythewood; grandchildren, Kylie and Conner Guyton; his mother, Bobbie Jean Phillips of Elgin; and brother, Bobby Rowe of Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robbie was preceded in death by his father, Donald Phillips and brother, Eddie Phillips.
