TEGA CAY -- Suzann Marchin, 71, passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, S.C.
Suzann was born in Detroit, Mich., on Sept. 23, 1937.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Till of Tega Cay, S.C.; her son, Kevin Marchin and his wife, Robin, of Belmont, N.C.; grandsons, Kyle Marchin of Greenwood, S.C., and Coleman Marchin of Central, S.C. Also surviving are brothers, Dr. Thomas J. Goulder of Boise, Idaho and James Goulder of Shelby Township, Mich.; and sisters, Roxanne Nagel of Dallas, Texas and Patricia Goulder of Mesick, Mich.
Suzann was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth P. Marchin and a daughter, Tammy Marchin.

Ms. Marchin was an accomplished artist who specialized in non-objective acrylic painting. She began painting while still in elementary school and attended the Detroit Institute of Art. Over the years, she continued to study at the university level and attended workshops with nationally known instructors. In 1995, Suzann won the prestigious Grumbacher gold medal and the Artist for Excellence award. Her collectors range from exclusive private collections to public corporations.
She received awards from the South Carolina Watercolor Society in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007; she also received First Place from the Associated Artists of Southport National Exhibition in July 2006. Her work toured in the SCWS traveling show in 2006 and 2007. Mrs. Marchin's art was featured in Watercolor Magic, a national art magazine, December 2007. Her current work is on exhibit at the Red Sky Gallery in Charlotte, N.C.
A memorial service to celebrate Suzann's life will be held at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 South New Hope Road, Belmont, N.C., at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2008.
