WEST COLUMBIA -- A private memorial service for Robert E. Schell Sr., 73, was held Saturday, October 11, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Schell died Thursday, October 9, 2008. Born in Macon, Ga., he was a son of the late Lewis Chambliss Schell and Annie Wright Schell. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a first lieutenant during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Mercer University, Ga., where he received a degree in Biology and was a member of S.A.E. Fraternity. He was also a graduate of Sherman Chiropractic College in Spartanburg, where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic. He earned a doctorate in Nutrition and Sports Medicine at Life University, Ga. A former pharmaceutical salesman, he was also a chiropractor.
Mr. Schell enjoyed fishing, reading and playing with his grandchildren.
Surviving are son, Robert Schell Jr. of Lexington; daughter and son-in-law, Trish and Clay Daniels of Rock Hill; grandchildren, Collin Schell, Austin Schell, Gage Schell and Charley Daniels; cousin, Martha O'Neal of Macon, Ga.; and sister-in-law, Elaine Schell of Macon, Ga. He was predeceased by brothers, John Schell, James Schell and Lewis Schell.
