Betty Lammer

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Ms. Betty Jane Gallagher Lammer, 65, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla.

The funeral will be noon Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, with Dr. Jack Basie officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road.

A native of York, Pa., Ms. Lammer was a daughter of the late Joseph T. Gallagher and the late Amanda Van der Slice Gallagher. She graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Tenn., with honors and then taught English in Alexandria, Va. She moved to St. Petersburg in 1972 from Arlington, Va., and worked as the Personnel Manager at the Tyrone Sears for 32 years. She was a Protestant by faith.

She is survived by her companion of 35 years, John Mangrum; her son, John Mangrum Jr. of Raleigh, N.C.; three daughters, Dawn Marie Mangrum Blackwell and her husband, Dwayne, Mary Stephanie Mangrum Reynolds and her husband, Steve, all of Gaffney, Lesa Rene Mangrum of Warrensville, N.C.; her sister, Mary Ellen Gallagher and her companion, Donnie Farrow, of Purcellville, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Bobby Mangrum of Rock Hill and Mickey Mangrum of Chester; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:45a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 E White St., Rock Hill.
