ROCK HILL -- Mr. George Edward Hardwick Sr., 51, of 729 S. Cherry Road, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m.. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Ultimate Life Church in Fort Mill, with Pastor Barry Harmon. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Park-Cherry Road.
A native of Fort Bragg, N.C., Mr. Hardwick was the son of Minnie Rayburn Hardwick of Georgetown, Ga., and the late Pleasant Files Hardwick. He was employed with Shaw Industries in Charlotte, N.C. for 18 years as a material handler. He attended West Coast Bible College and received his Masters degree from Jacksonville Theological Seminary. He was a member of Ultimate Life Church in Fort Mill, where he was a deacon and worked in the Food Pantry. He also enjoyed ringing the bell for the Salvation Army for 26 years.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Hardwick is survived by his wife, Mary Starnes Hardwick of the home; his sons, George Edward Hardwick Jr. and his wife, Ashley and Jacob Daniel Hardwick and his wife, Rebecca, all of Rock Hill; his daughter, Joy Elizabeth Mattice and her husband, Craig, of Rock Hill; his brother, James Clayton Hardwick of Georgetown, Ga.; and his grandchildren, Alyssa Marie Hardwick, Madeline Danielle Hardwick, Savannah Grace Hardwick, Pheonix Jade Mattice and Craig Joseph Mattice Jr.

The family will receive friends today, Nov. 4, 2008, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the church, 377 Rubin Center Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708 and other times at the home.
