YORK -- Mr. James Howard Brock, 85, of 705 W. Mount Gallant Road, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
Born in Chesterfield County, S.C., Mr. Brock was a son of the late Harley and Victoria Davis Brock. He was a member of Lesslie Church of God and retired from Springs White Plant, where he worked as a clean-up man for over 20 years. He had also worked at The Industrial Mill for 12 years prior to working for Springs. Mr. Brock was an avid guitar and banjo player and particularly enjoyed playing for the residents and families at the area nursing homes.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 E. White St., Rock Hill, with the Rev. Ted Tinker officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park on Hollis Lakes Road.
Surviving are four sons, Ricky Brock and wife, Connie, of York, Edward Brock and wife, Sally, of Lancaster, S.C., Howard G. Brock and wife, Lisa, of Lesslie and Johnny Brock and wife, Janet, of York; his daughter, Linda B. Braswell and her fiancé, Mitchell Broughton, of Kershaw, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brock was preceded in death by his two brothers, James Ross Brock and Barney Brock; his twin sister, Canty Rabon and his sister, Louise Brock; as well as his granddaughter, Amy Michelle Brock.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, Nov. 20, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel and other times at the home of his son, Ricky Brock, 703 W. Mount Gallant Road, York, SC 29745.
