SALEM, Ala. -- Eddie Brunell Hodges, 80, of Salem, Ala., died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at the Columbus Medical Center.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, with the Rev. Billy Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 5 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Phenix City Chapel.
Mr. Hodges was born May 10, 1928, in Geneva County, Ala., to the late George A. and Sunsan Trant Hodges. He was retired from the U.S. Army after serving 29 years and served during the Korea Conflict. He was also retired from Columbus Packaging Company, was a member of Victory Heights Baptist Church in Columbus, Ga., was a member of the EAA and was an avid airplane enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Rosalind P. Hodges of Salem, Ala.; two brothers, Tilmon Hodges and wife, Lillian, of St. Louis, Mo., B.A. "Alex" Hodges and wife, Freida, of Rock Hill, S.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Wayne Lisenby of Salem, Ala.; special niece, Louise Gilchrist of Phenix City, Ala.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives who were all very special.
