CHESTER -- Mr. Thomas Elliott McDonald, 78, of 1213 Helsellville Road, Chester died peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at his residence.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Beaver Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry Wingate officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Born Feb. 2, 1930, in Blackstock, S.C., Mr. McDonald was a son of the late John Thomas "J.T." and Kate Smith McDonald. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and attended York Technical College. He was retired from Carlisle Finishing Plant and a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon for 50 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lavinia Weir McDonald; two daughters and son-in-law, Dr. Sandra McDonald of Fort Collins, Colo., and Harriet M. and her husband, Dana Simmons of Clemson, S.C.; one grandson, Edward Dana Simmons IV of Clemson; two twin granddaughters, Maggie and Kate Simmons of Clemson, S.C.; one brother, Sanford McDonald and his wife, Betty, of Blackstock, S.C.; two sisters, Helen M. Cloniger of Blackstock, S.C., and Evelyn M. Rash of Chester, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
