CHARLOTTE -- Mr. Hawfield, 83, of Charlotte, died Dec. 5, 2008 at White Oak Manor in York, S.C. He was born on July 3, 1925 in Mecklenburg County to the late John and Mabel Hawfield. He was a proud World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Hawfield retired as a construction supervisor from Blythe and Isenhour Construction and he was also a farmer.
He is survived by his wife of fifty four years, Nancy Jackson Hawfield; son Jimmy Hawfield; daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Mark Ingerick; brother, John Hawfield; and sister, Carol Hagler.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday December 8, 2008 at Harrison United Methodist Church, 15008 Lancaster Highway Pineville, NC 28134. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. in room 100 at the church.
