CHESTER -- Mrs. Almond L. Moffatt Brown, 80, of 1233 Brown's McCullough Road, Chester, passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Chester Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. George Lowery officiating, the Rev. W.W. Thompson delivering the eulogy and Evangelist Georgette Boulware assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born in Chester County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Moffatt and Mary McDonald Moffatt. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and attended public schools in Chester and Emmett Scott High in Rock Hill.
Survivors are her husband, Frank "Briss" Brown Jr. of the home; four sons, Morris (Ida) Brown and Lawrence (Elaine) Brown, both of Chester, Harry Brown of York County and Charles (Peggy) Brown of LaGrange, Ga.; two daughters, D. Dianne Brown-Lloyd (Enoch) of Charlotte, N.C., and Barbara Brown of the home; two sisters, Lureatha Hoyles and Annie (Robert) Douglas, both of Rock Hill; one brother, Horace Moffatt of New York; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today with Eastern rites performed at 6:30 p.m. at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester. The family will receive friends at the residence.
