ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Margaret L. Connaughton, 83, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at UniHealth in Rock Hill.
Mrs. Connaughton was born on Sept. 30, 1925, in Providence, R.I. She married Lt. Commander John F. Connaughton on Nov. 23, 1946. After World War II, Mr. and Mrs. Connaughton moved into their first home in Avon, Mass., and remained in the New England area until they reached retirement age. In 1992, the couple moved to Surfside Beach, S.C., to be nearer family in Charlotte.
Mrs. Connaughton was a homemaker most of her adult life. Her family fondly remembers her wild Maine blueberry pie, her beautifully tended garden, her exquisite handmade quilts and her warm, inviting home. Mrs. Connaughton was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed. Her family would like to thank Mrs. Connaughton's caregivers for your compassionate health care in her final months of life.
Mrs. Connaughton is survived by a son, John Edward Connaughton of Charlotte, N.C.; a grandson, John Michael Connaughton of Durham, N.C.; and a brother, James L. Thomas of Braintree, Mass.
A private service has been requested for Mrs. Connaughton. Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
