CHESTER -- Mrs. Virginia Gordon Owens, 87, of 1099 JA Cochran By-pass passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Calvary Baptist Church in Chester, S.C., with the Rev. J.H. Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
Born in York County on June 26, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James Gordon and Fannie Bradley Gordon. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the missionary society, pulpit aide, Helping Hand and senior Sunday School class. She was a member of Etta Stanback Federated Club, the Women's Friendship Club and was a retired nursing assistant. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Owens and a daughter, Brenda O. Feaster.
Survivors are two sons, David L. Owens of Matthews, N.C., and Robert A. (Wanda) Owens of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Fannie O. (Preston Jr.) Pendergrass of Charlotte and Gloria O. (Dorsey) Crank of Chester; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester. The family will receive friends at the residence.
