FORT MILL -- Mrs. Gladys J. Crocker, 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at the Wayne Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at the First Baptist Church Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Bedwell and Dr. Larry Harrison officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.
Born in Oxford, N.C., Mrs. Crocker was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Johnson. She was retired from Springs Industries, where she worked at both the Fort Mill Plant and White Plant. Mrs. Crocker was a member of First Baptist Church and the W.M.U. She taught Sunday School for more than 20 years, was in the Pearl Smith Sunday School Class and cooked at the church for many years. Mrs. Crocker also attended Sisk Memorial Baptist Church. She was a member of the Catawba Lodge Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Crocker enjoyed cooking, playing solitaire and working puzzle books. Mrs. Crocker enjoyed all kind of crafts, such as crocheting, knitting, sewing, painting and ceramics. She loved anything involving her grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Mickey "Scoob" Crocker of Fort Mill and Tony "Willie" Crocker and his wife, Sylvia Crocker, of Fort Mill; her brother, Robert T. "Tick" Johnson of Raleigh, N.C.; her half sister, Judy Johnson of Virginia; six grandchildren, Donna Lynn C. Ellis, Robin Crocker Freeman, Matthew Lee Crocker, Toni M. Crocker, Jeremy Black and Anthony Crocker; and four great-grandchildren, Emily Ellis, Scotty L. Workman II, Jason Tanner Pike and Gage D. Freeman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest Guy Crocker (2004).
