HICKORY GROVE -- Alvah Price Brakefield, 69, of Hickory Grove, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at the Wayne T Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Hickory Grove Church of God. The Rev. Mike Goodwin will be officiating.
Alvah was a son of the late Alva "Shorty" and Eunice Lanier Brakefield and was the grandson of Eff and Fannie Lanier. He was retired from Community Cash after 40 years.
He is survived by three sons, Scott Brakefield and Tony Brakefield, both of Clover and Wayne Brakefield of Cherryville, N.C.; daughter, Ann Hargett of Hickory Grove; two brothers, Frank Brakefield and Melvin Brakefield, both of York; two sisters, Pat Hicks of York and Faye Robinson of Charlotte, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Grove Church of God.
