ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Joan Connally, 75, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loved ones after a short period of illness.
Mrs. Connally was born July 31, 1933 to A. D. Caley and Helen Truax in Rochester, N.Y. Joan attended the Baptist nursing program in Winston-Salem, N.C. Joan served as Director of Volunteer Services for Pioneer Hospital in Artesia, Calif., and retired from Piedmont Medical Center as Director of Volunteer services. Activities in the community included involvement with the Palmetto Volunteers in the Medicine Clinic. Joan was an active member of The Episcopal Church Of Our Savior and enjoyed volunteering her time to assist with the meals on wheels program. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Steve A. Connally Sr., and sister, Helen Caley.
Surviving are her daughters, Deborah Cornell and husband, Ralph, of Waldorf, Md., and Jennifer Williamson and husband, Robin, of York, S.C.; son, Steve A. Connally and wife, Jill, of Flowery Branch, Ga.; grandchildren, Kristina Mantha of New Delhi, India, Matthew Junge of Hampton, Va., Jacob Junge of Waldorf, Md., Eryn Williamson of York, S.C., Lydia Connally and Clara Connally, both of Flowery Branch, Ga., Joan is also survived by her sister, Ann Bower of Jacksonville, Fla., and brother, Doug Caley of Columbia, S.C.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Rock Hill, S.C.
Memorial donations may be made to Volunteer Auxiliary of Piedmont Medical Center - Lights For Love Scholarship Program; Episcopal Church Of Our Savior-Restoration Project; or the Palmetto Volunteers in Medicine Free Clinic.
